Her obituary in the Middletown Journal of March 18, 1961, reported:
“Mrs. Leona Lawson, 76, died at Middletown Hospital since suffering a stroke. She had been living with son Paul K. Lawson, but had lived in Middletown for 60 years coming from Wellington, Ky. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Daughters of America. Her husband Leonard died in 1918. Surviving are son Paul; sisters Mrs. John Moore of Batavia and Mrs. Joseph Durbin of Louisville; three grandchildren. Services at the Riggs Funeral Home and burial in Woodside Cemetery.”
