Sarrell, age 93 years 8 months 2 days, born 13 July 1826 in Kentucky, died 11 April 1920 in Menifee Co., Ky, widowed, father John Sarrell, born in Kentucky, mother’s maiden name not known, cause of death suspose to be old age, informant Arthur Sorrell, Scranton, Ky, burial in Staton Cemetery.

Since his parents were not married until Nov 1830, and he was listed in the 1850 census as age 15, with two older siblings, the reported age and birthdate are incorrect. The 1900 census also recorded his birthdate as July 1834.

His gravestone says John P. Sorrell, April 12, 1833 - 1918. The approximated, and incorrect, date of death suggests that the stone was erected some number of years after he died.

In the 1920 census John was recorded with his son Milton, as John P. Sorrell, father, 76, b. Ky Ky Ky, second marriage, married 23 years. (He was really twice widowed at the time, not married.)
