Fleming Co., Ky marriage book X, pp. 100-101, records the marriage on 11 Aug 1909 of J. P. Barbee, age 24, farmer, residence Fleming Co. (birthplace fields blank), to Elizabeth Duncan, age 25, born in and mother born in Nicholas Co., father born in Montgomery Co. Bond surety by Clayton Duncan.

Barbee, J. P., 24, farmer; Elizabeth, 26, wife, married 0 years, no children. Both born Ky Ky Ky.
1920 census of Fleming Co., Ky, Elizaville precinct, enumerated 19 Jan, lists on p. 6B as family #153/160:
Barbee, Palmer, 35; Elizabeth, 36; Avery V., son, 9; Roy, son, 7. All born Ky Ky Ky.
1930 census of Fleming Co., Ky, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 9B as family #226/228:
Barbee, James T., 45, farmer, age at first marriage 24; Lizzie, wife, 46, age at first marriage 25; Avery, son, 20; Roy, son, 17; Ishmael, Mary, mother-in-law, 72, widowed, age at first marriage 13. All born Ky Ky Ky.
All other records are consistent that James’ middle initial was P, so I suspect the T is just a case of the enumerator mishearing what was spoken.
Elizabeth’s maiden name was recorded as Dunbar on the birth record of her son Roy, so either there was some error in the birth index, or her mother remarried to an Ishmael.
