He was known both as Joseph and Josiah (mainly the former on birth or death records for his children, and mainly the latter in the censuses.)
Notes for Josiah & Hannah (Family)
Some sources list Josiah’s wife as Hannah Evans, daughter of Isaac Evans and Sarah Raybourn, while others list his wife as Hannah Enix, daughter of Abraham Enix and Juliann Logan. It is possible that he had two wives, both named Hannah, but it is more likely that the maiden name of Absalom’s mother was given incorrectly on his death certificate (this seems to be the main source for the name Evans.)
