“FLEMINGSBURG -- Garrett Clifton Bates Jr., 80, of Flemingsburg, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at his residence.
He was born in Fleming County on Feb. 22, 1925, the son of the late Ada Planck and Garret Bates Sr.
Mr. Bates was a retired truck driver for Massey Harrison Trucking Company, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Bates of Flemingsburg; one step-son, Tommy Johnson of Butler; a brother, Bobby Bates of Flemingsburg; a sister, Virginia Tonkivoch of Jellico, Tenn.; and one step grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Bates and a sister, Gertrude Jessie Leslie.
Services are 2 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Rev. Ford Hinton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Goddard Cemetery.”
