“FLEMINGSBURG -- Bobby Joe Bates, age 65, of Wallingford, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, from injuries he received in a single-car accident on Kentucky 32 East.
Mr. Bates was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Fleming County, the son of the late Garrett and Ada Pettit Bates.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Bates of Chicago, Ill.; five sons, Dwayne (Marsha) Bates of Wisconsin, Joey (Jan) Bates of West Liberty, Randy Bates of Tipp City, Ohio, Bobby Bates of Tennessee and Eric Bates Peterson of Flemingsburg; a sister, Virginia Bates Tonkavich of Jelico, Tenn; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Garrett Bates Jr. and Cletus James Bates.
Services are 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Dallas Barker and Bro. Darris Hammons officiating.
Burial will follow in the Goddard Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post and the VFW Post at the Cemetery.”
