He is very probably the Lawrence Pettit listed in the 1910 census of Champaign Co., Illinois, Sadorus township, as an unrelated hired farm hand, 20, single, born Ky Ky Ky, with the family of Herman Hamradt and his wife Maggie, both born in Germany. (There is no other Lawrence Pettit or variant spelling in the 1900 census of Kentucky, and no other Lawrence Pettit or variant spelling born Ky Ky Ky in the 1910 census anywhere.)

On the same page, three households below, is a John Pettit, born Ky Ky Ky, hired farm hand, age 17, with the family of Pat J. Carey and sister Mary, from Ireland, who is possibly John C. Pettit, son of Joseph M. Pettit and Nannie Varvel of Bath Co., although I am less certain of that identification.
