The Kentucky death index lists Virgil D. Black, age 94, died 5 Apr 1999 in Rowan Co., residence Carter Co.

The SSDI lists Gladys W. Black, born 3 Aug 1900, died 28 Dec 1988, last residence Mechanicsburg, Champaign Co., Ohio, SSN issued in Ohio before 1951. Some member famiiy trees have identified that Gladys W. Black with the one who was the wife of Virgil D. Black, but the Ohio deaths database says that the Gladys W. Black with those dates was born in Ohio. So it may be that the identification was made in error.

There were two Flanery/Flannery families in Elliott County with a daughter Gladys listed as age 9 in 1910 and age 19 in 1920 - James Houston Flanery age 34 with wife Allie (nee Horton), and James O. Flanery age 30 with wife Sarah E (nee Murray). (The census taker spelled the name Flanery.)
