Her gravestone is inscribed “Malissia Greene, Born Nov. 27, 1871, Died Mar. 2, 1905”, but the birthdate is off by at least three years, more likely four or five. She was recorded as age 4 in the 1880 census, as age 18 on her marriage license in March 1895. and as age 23 born Nov 1876 in the 1900 census.

Rowan Co. Ky marriage bond book 2, p. 166, records a license/bond issued on 22 Mar 1895 for the marriage of Raleigh Green, residence Bowen Co., Va, and Liscie Sorrell, age 18, consent note attached from Harry Sorrell, bond surety by John Goldy. Marriage register A, p. 89, records that the marriage took place on 25 Mar 1895 at Harrison Sorrell’s.
