Jesse’s census records as an adult are consistent in reporting that he was born in Kansas, but the 1900 census where he appeared with his parents gave his birthplace as Indiana, and his parents were in Putnam Co., Indiana in the 1880 census as well. Perhaps they briefly moved to Kansas during the 1880’s or 1890’s, and then back to Indiana.
