His name on his daughter Sabra’s birth record (June 9, 1855) looks like Cad or Ead to me, but may be Edd. (The tops of the characters are lighter and tend to fade out. Ancestry.com has indexed it as Cus.) Sabra’s death certificate gives her father’s name as Isaac, but it is probably in error, since the same page of birth records on the previous line records Moses Sparks born on 18 Nov 1855 to Isaac Sparks and Nancy Jones. There were not two Isaac Sparks of the same generation in Carter Co.

I can find no match for any of those given names in the 1850 census.

Jesse Sparks, 62, farmer, b. Va; Nancy, 59, b. Va; Edy, 23, b. Ky; Sarah J., 20, b. Ky; Sabra K., 5, b. Ky.

1870 census of Elliott Co., precinct 4, enumerated 10 Aug, lists on p. 11 as family #84:
Sparks, Edy, 40; Louisa, 2. Both born in Kentucky.

The preceding household is Edy’s widowed mother.

1880 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Moccasin precinct, enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 17A as family #109:
Sparks, Edy, 34, single, b. Ky Va Va; Sabra, 23, dau; Sarah R., 17, dau; Eliza J., 11, dau; Andrew J., 6, son.

Edy should be listed as 43, not 34. Eliza is probably the daughter listed as Louisa age 2 in 1870.

1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Sinking precinct, enumerated 4 June, lists on p. 2A as family #24:
Sparks, Andrew J., 25, b. May 1875, farmer; Eliza J., sister, 20, b. May 1870; Eada G., mother, 62, b. Mar 1838, single. All born Ky Ky Ky.
