His death certificate records Leander C. Mauk, age 93, born 10 Jan 1856 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 12 May 1949 in Greenup, Greenup Co., Kentucky, father Henry Mauk, mother’s maiden name Nosetha Thorpe, cause of death pneumonia, contributory cause “fall in the house striking head against door frame cutting head, got out of bed too feeble to stand alone”, burial in Siloam Cemetery, Siloam, Ky, informant L. M. Mauk.

Carter Co., Ky birth records list Rachael Malinda Sparks, born 1 Sep 1861, father Daniel Sparks, mother’s maiden name Elizabeth Sparks.

I do not know whether Leander was the father of all of Rachel’s children, but he was reported as Martha’s father in her obituary. (Well, strictly speaking, the obituary reported Martha’s father as “Lynn Mauk”, but there wasn’t any Lynn Mauk in the area, and the Carter County Genealogy web site identifies “Lynn” as Leander.
