Dates of birth and death are from his memorial on FindaGrave.com, which also gives his middle name as Hunter. Some other sources give it as Henderson. (There is no photo of the stone on the memorial, so I do not know if the dates and middle name are on the inscription, or added by the submitter.)

I do not understand why Rufus has the surname Flan(n)ery when he was born seven months after Minerva married John Morgan Adkins, and 3 years after her first husband William Houston Flanery died.

Her death certificate records Maggie Flanery, age 75 years 0 months 15 days, born 11 Jan 1861 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 26 Jan 1936 in Elliott Co., Ky, widow of Rufus Flanery, father Melbourn Elliott, mother’s maiden name Tennsee Adkins, both born in Elliott Co., Ky (which really did not exist until 1869), cause of death flu and senility, informant Julia Adkins, Sandy Hook, Ky, burial in Little Sandy.
