Her death certificate records Delpha Fyffe, age 6 years, birthdate not known exactly, died 25 Oct 1918 in Silver Hill, Morgan Co., Ky, father Oliver Fyffe, mother’s maiden name Shella Cantrell, cause of death influenza, informant Amos Cantrell, Ophir, Ky.
The Kentucky birth index lists no daughter named Delpha (or similar). It does, however, list a Sallie M. Fyffe born 12 May 1912 in Morgan Co., mother’s maiden name Shellie Cantrell, for whom no match appears in the 1920 census. Most likely “Dellie” was misread as “Sallie”, since D and S can look very similar in handwriting if there is a loop at the top of the D.
