Her implied birthdate as reported in the later censuses varies widely. She was listed as age 15 in 1850, age 25 in 1860, age 28 in 1870, age 40 in 1880, age 70 born April 1830 in 1900, and age 76 in 1910.
Her death certificate records Martha Jane Gallahue, age 79 years 6 months 27 days, born 1 Jan 1834 in Kentucky, died 28 July 1913 in Oxford, Scott Co., Ky, married, father William Gallahue, mother’s maiden name Martha Jane Wells, both born in Kentucky, cause of death interstitial nephritis, informant Joseph McClauhan, Georgetown, Rt 3, burial in Mt. Gilead.
The parental fields have been entered with Martha herself and her husband rather than with Martha’s parents. Death records for her brothers William and Alfred suggest that her parents may have been Basil Duke Wells and Jane Clenderry.
