Hocking Co., Ohio marriage records list the marriage on 8 Mar 1909 of Guy Graham, age 18, born in Beaumont, Athens Co., Ohio, son of Hiram Graham and Mary Higgins, to Essie Pettit, age 16, born in Sand Run, Ohio, daughter of Samuel Pettit and Mary Bucan, first marriage for both.
The marriage record for Guy’s parents Hiram and Mary, though, gives her maiden name as Fierce, as does the death certificate of Guy’s sister Beatrice, and the marriage licenses of Beatrice, and of his sister Sarah and his brothers Charles and George. Higgins may be the surname of a second husband.

(Essie seems to have answered the parental birthplace question with her foster parents’ birthplaces, since her father was born in Kentucky, but her foster father Henry Hite was born in Ohio.)
