Her obituary reported “Clara O. Eldridge Goodman, 73, of Crix Ridge Road, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia after an illness of several weeks. She was born on December 27, 1935 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Preston and Lillie Mae Pence Eldridge. Mrs. Goodman was retired from the Rowan County Public Library where she served as the bookmobile librarian for many years. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. She was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Mrs. Goodman was the widow of Homer Goodman who passed away on October 20, 2009. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Fraley, Fredia Crumb, Verna Riddle and Lula Kiser and one brother, Charles Eldridge. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Goodman Moore and her husband, William of Ashland, one brother, Roscoe Eldridge of Morehead and three sisters, Mary Brown of Greenup, Carma Eldridge of Morehead and Shirley Blevins of Glasgow, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. An Old Regular Baptist Church funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Elder Gary Adkins and Elder Curt Seagraves officiating. Burial will follow in the Crix Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Stephens, Michael Brown, David Brown, Tommy Riddle, Paul Goodman and Willie Goodman.”
