1880 census of Carroll Co., Virginia, Pine Creek district, enumerated 5 June, lists on pp. 8-9 as family #64/68:
Bond, Gilbert, 43, farming; Sarah Ann, 35, wife, Benj. Rush, 19, son; Duglas A., 17, son; Selece J., 14, dau; John Olliver, 12, son; Polly Eliza, 11, dau; Madison T., 9, son; Ross Alex, 7. All born Va Va Va.

According to Carroll Co. Virginia Cemetery records, Gilbert’s first wife Sarah Ann Marshall died in 1876, which if true, would mean that this wife is a different Sarah Ann. In 1900 he is listed with a wife Sarah E. age 55, and the number of years married given as 18. It seems somewhat unlikely to me that Gilbert had three consecutive wives named Sarah. I think it is more likely that either the death date for his first wife is wrong, or that the number of years married for the wife Sarah E. is wrong.
