Notes for Hatton Boyd
The marriage record is the only record I can find of any Hatton Boyd in the area. So he probably had another given name.
Notes for Flora Stamper
I do not know for sure who Flora’s parents were. She was born after Clarinda McClurg divorced Simon Link, and four and a half years before she married Carter Stamper, and there are no other marriages recorded for Clarinda. So if she was a daughter of Clarinda, then she was born out of wedlock, with an unknown father. The other possibility is that she was the daughter of Carter Stamper and his first wife Mary Perry, but then that would raise the two questions of why Carter and Mary’s daughter Minnie born in 1891 would be fostered out to Mary’s sister Martha while the younger Flora stayed with her father, and why she was recorded in the 1900 census after Clarinda’s daughter Sarah while Carter’s daughter Hulda from his first marriage was moved to the end out of age order, and who the third surviving child of Clarinda McClurg was in 1900 (two of them would be Sarah Elizabeth Link and Carmie F. Stamper.)
I think the first hypothesis is most likely, but I am attaching her into the database as daughter of Carter, tentatively linked to each wife, partly because she was raised as a Stamper, and partly because it means I don’t need to make a third “unknown partner” family for Clarinda.
