His WW II army enlistment record lists Clellie O. Sparkman, born 1907 in Rowan Co., Ky, enlisted 10 Dec 1942 in Huntington, Virginia, marital status widower with dependent children.
The Kentucky death index lists Cellie O. Sparkman, age 62, died 28 July 1969 in Rowan Co.
His WW II army enlistment record lists Clellie O. Sparkman, born 1907 in Rowan Co., Ky, enlisted 10 Dec 1942 in Huntington, Virginia, marital status widower with dependent children.
The Kentucky death index lists Cellie O. Sparkman, age 62, died 28 July 1969 in Rowan Co.
Notes for Ivory Ara Nickell
As a child she mostly went by Ara, but as an adult she reversed the order of her given names and went by Ivory.
The Kentucky birth index lists Jonathan I. Nickell, born 3 April 1919 in Rowan Co., mother’s maiden name Ona Scaggs.
It would be interesting to view the actual birth certificate to see how a daughter named Ara Ivory gets indexed as Jonathan I.!
The SSDI lists Ivory A. Blankenship, born 3 Apr 1919, died 24 Sep 1996, last residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Kentucky.
She is, quite unusually for a married woman, buried under a double stone with her brother Arthur, inscribed “Ivory Nickell Blankinship, Apr 3, 1919 - Sep 24, 1996, Sister” and “Arthur Nickell, June 14, 1916 - Oct 27, 1940, Brother”. Since their dates of death are so far apart, most likely this stone was installed at the time of Ivory’s death, and replaced an earlier one for Arthur.
