His obituary reported "Oscar Conn, 79, Claimed Monday: Oscar Conn, 79, retired Elliott County farmer living in Grayson died Monday, June 8, at Kings's Daughters' Hospital, Ashland, after a few days illness followed by a heart attack. Born in Elliott County, he was the son of Watt and Virginia Jarrell Conn. He first was married to Anna Howard Conn, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Bitha Gallion Conn of Grayson; the following children; Watt Conn, Sandy Hook; Madge Sparks, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Myrtle Whitely, Charleston, W. Va.; Hazel Dummit, California; Inez Hellman and Berniece Link, both of Ashland; Lorine Barker, Kathleen Triplett, and Irene Ison all of West Virginia, and Proctor Conn of Gallion, Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters Mrs. Maude Ritter of Mansfield, Ohio, and Gladys Cooper of Loraine, Ohio. Funeral Services was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newfoundland by Rev. Charles Vansant. Burial was in Hunter cemetery. Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home was in charge."
