His death announcement in The World newspaper of Coos Bay, Oregon ran 23 Feb 1961, and reported “Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the North Bend chapel of the Campbell - Watkins mortuary for Charles Pettit, 58, late resident of North Bend, who died Feb 22 in Keizer Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Oscar W. Payne, pastor of the Coos Bay Presbyterian Church, will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Harry Walker, Carl Johnson, A. W. Russell, Kenneth Edwards, Jack Thomas and Francis Lindstrom.

Her obituary reported “Private family services will be held at a later date for Abbie V. Petitt, 92, of North Bend. Cremation will be at Ocean View Memory Gardens.
She was born Aug 2, 1908 in Marshfield. She died Jan 2, 2001 in Coos Bay.
Mrs. Petitt lived in Coos Bay her entire life. She worked for Twin City Laundry for many years before retiring in the mid 1960s. She was a kind and loving mother and liked having visitors, as she always had cookies and coffee for her relatives.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Linda Petitt of North Bend, sister Myrtle Johnson of Eastside; grandchildren David Petitt, Floyd J. Pettit Jr. and Linda LaPrevotte; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.”
