Her obituary reported “GULBRANSON, Freida M. age 78 of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. She was born March 7, 1931 in Elliott County, KY, the daughter of the late John & Nora (Mabry) Scaggs. Freida was a retired waitress from the Springfield Holiday Inn. Preceded in death by her first husband Eugene L. Brown in 1966, second husband Harold L. Gulbranson in 1989, her sister Thelma Trent, and a daughter-in-law Linda Gale Brown. She is survived by 3 sons Pete Brown and wife Penny, Paul Richard Brown, Jay Gulbranson all of Springfield, 2 brothers Ron Scaggs of Little Rock, AR, Don Scaggs of Morehead, KY, 7 grandchildren Caleb & Kirby, Katie & Paul, Sierra, Madison, and Hailey, 3 great grandsons Blake, Seth and Xavier, special cousin Esther Eberle, and a special friend Teresa Parrot both of Springfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Kenney Zechman Funeral Home, Springfield. Rev. Orbie Estep, Jr. officiating. Burial Rose Hill Burial Park.”
