Judging from his age of 8 years recorded in the 1860 census, he was probably really born in 1851 or 1852.

Lawrence Co., Ky birth records list the birth on 20 Dec 1852 of Nancy Ison on Little Sandy. Her father’s name is recorded as Ison Isham and her mother’s maiden name as Ela Hannah.

Her death certificate records Nancy Fannin, age 64, born 21 Dec 1853 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 21 Dec 1917 in Newcomb precinct, Elliott Co., Ky, widowed, father Ison Ison, mother’s maiden name Ebbie Hannah, both born in Elliott Co., Ky, cause of death pulmonary tuberculosis, informant G. W. Fannin, Isonville, Ky, burial in Ison P.B.G.


Elliott Co. was not formed until 1869, so the birthplaces are incorrect. But the Little Sandy area of Lawrence Co. where she was born did become part of Elliott Co.

Fannin, James, 18, farmer; Nancy, 17. Both born in Kentucky, married in Jany.
