The Morehead Independent of Thu., September 17, 1936 reported:

“Walter Gee Dies in Motor Accident

Haldman Man’s Car Leaves Road Near Elliottville; Wife Also Injured

Injuries received Sunday morning in an automobile wreck cause the death Monday afternoon of Walter Gee, employee of the Kentucky Fire Brick Company at Haldeman.

Gee’s car wrecked near Elliottville on the Morehead-Sandy Hook road. When he was picked up by a passing motorist, the car was laying on its top. He was rushed to the Nickell Clinic in Morehead and later taken to the hospital.

Mrs. Gee, who was also in the car, sustained minor injuries. A brother of Gee’s was killed several years ago in a wreck on U.S. 60.

Funeral rites were conducted in Haldeman yesterday.”

The SSDI lists Hattie Keeys, born 15 Feb 1904, died 9 Feb 1992, last residence Clearfield, Rowan Co., Ky.

Her gravestone, a double one with her second husband, is inscribed Hattie M. Gee Keeys, and includes their marriage date.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Haldeman precinct, enumerated 17 April, lists on p. 5A as family #72:
Gee, Walter, 28, age at first marriage 18, molder in brick yard; Hattie, wife, 26, age at first marriage 16; Oscar, son, 8; Edward, son, 6 8/12; Vergil, son, 3 11/12; Ula, dau, 2. All born Ky Ky Ky.
