Notes for Ellis Stevens
Ellis is probably a son of one of the sons of Henry Stevens and Annis Binion, but I don’t know which one. He was raised by Annis and her second husband Rufus Adkins.
He was listed with them in the 1900 census as George Ellis, age 7, born March 1893, grandson, and in the 1910 census as Ellis Adkins, age 17, son.
His WW I draft registration card, filed 5 June 1917, records Ellis Stevens, age 22, born 11 Mar 1895 in Ironton, Ohio, residence Hardy, Ky, employer Sand Creek Coal Co., Hardy, Ky, married supporting wife & one child.
His birthdate was probably really in 1893 or 1894.
