His death certificate records Sherman Gully, age 56, born 1875 in Fleming Co., Ky, died 7 Feb 1931 at Eastern State Hospital, length of stay 22 days, usual residence Fleming Co., Ky, farmer, married, husband of Annie Gully, parents unknown, cause of death erysipelas, contributory cause manic-depressive insanity depressive type, informant records of Eastern State Hospital, burial in Flemingsburg.
Be careful not to confuse him with Riley Sherman Gulley, 10 Jan 1871 - 7 June 1946, son of Richard Carpenter Gulley and Ellen McKee, who married Martha McKee on 3 Feb 1898 in Fleming Co., Ky.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 3, p. 234, records the marriage on 18 Apr 1899 of S. G. Gully, age 26, residence Winchester, Ky, born in and father born in Lewis Co., Ky, mother born in Greenup Co., Ky, to Vicy Kelly, age 26, born in Carter Co., Ky, father born in N.C., mother born in Va, to be at Jno B. Kelley’s (from license), at Wheatley by L. E. Mann (from return), witnesses John B. Kelly (also bond surety) and J. F. Woodward.
It is likely that this marriage lasted less than two years and perhaps ended in divorce, since the only match for Sherman I can find in records later than 1900 shows him married in 1910 to a wife named Miranda whom he married in 1903, listed as a first marriage for both. (I find it very common in census records for brief marriages that ended in divorce to not be included in the prior marriages count, especially if there were no children.)

Gulley, Sherman, 37, b. March 1863, farmer; Vica, wife, 28, b. March 1878. Married 1 year, 0 children. Both born Ky Ky Ky.
Note that the age and birthdate for Vica are inconsistent with each other. A birthdate in March 1878 would imply an age of 22; an age of 28 would imply a birthdate in late 1871 or early 1872. The reported age and birthdate for Sherman are also off by 10 years from the age of 26 reported on his marriage record.
