Notes for Chester Kenneth Alfrey
His obituarty reported “Chester K. Alfrey, 72, Joplin route 4, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Sale Memorial Hospital, Neosho, after being in failing health since 1988.
Mr. Alfrey was born July 20, 1920, at Wagoner, Okla., and came to the Joplin area as a child. He attended the Baptist church and was a member of Neosho Masonic Lodge No. 247.
He was a truck driver with Contract Freighters Inc. from 1976 until 1982. He also had worked at the former Rocketdyne plant at Neosho from 1958 to 1969. He was a World War II veteran. His wife, the former Betty J. Wallace, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Valerie Smith, Tulsa, Okla., and Sharon Thomas, Joplin; a son, Mike Guest, Neosho; nine grandchildren; and five great grandsons.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. The Rev. Alan Brock will officiate. Lodge No. 247 will conduct Masonic services. Private graveside services will be at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home.”
