Her obituary as abstracted on FindAGrave reported “Born at Mount Hope to the late Alfred and Mollie Armstrong Crosthwaite. Esther was a graduate of Breckinridge Training School and Morehead State University, with graduate work at Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky. A teacher for 37 years. She taught at Stonewall School in the Fayette County School System for 18 years. Prior to that, she taught in the Rowan County School System and in Tennessee. She was a 40-year member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington. Preceded in death by her husband Royal A. Brown, brothers Winford and Harold Crosthwaite and one sister, Dorothy Dean Jones. Survived by a daughter, a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren.”
