Her obituary in the Charleston Gazette reported “BESSEMER CITY, N.C. - Hattie Richmond, 90, of Bessemer City, formerly of Beckley, W.Va., died March 2, 1999, in Charlotte Health Care Center after a short illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Hilltop Baptist Church, Green Valley.
Surviving: daughter, Sylvia Riddle Rennick of Bessemer City; stepdaughters, Geneva Riddle Smallwood of Fort Myers, Fla., Betty Richmond Suddreth of Lenoir; stepsons, Frank Richmond of Houston, Everece "Ace" Richmond of Galena, Ohio; sisters, Anna Mae Coakley of Havre De Grace, Md., Lena Henry of Sonora, Calif.; brothers, Roy Fagg of Oak Hill, W.Va., Cletis "Skeek" Fagg of Cunard, W.Va.; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Prosperity, W.Va., with the Rev. Leo Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.”
