He was listed in the 1850 census as age 11 months. The household was visited on 20 Sept, but ages were supposed to be reported as of June 1. The 1860 census listed him as age 11 years.
Nearly all later records list him with ages suggesting a birthdate between 1846 and 1848, but they are likely to be incorrect.
