Several family trees on Ancestry.com record his birthdate as 27 July 1805, but they also record the birthdate of his brother William as 3 Dec 1805, and they cannot both be correct.
Both of them were recorded in the 1850 census as age 45. In the 1860 census, Samuel was recorded as age 56, and William as age 54. So I am entering Samuel’s birthdate as 27 July 1804.
