His obituary in the Owingsville Outlook of Thu 30 Jan 1896, as abstracted in “Local Vital Records from Newspapers of Bath Co., Kentucky 1884 through 1910”, compiled by Eric C. Nagle, reported:
“Squire William H. Williams died Jan 28th at his home on the old Slate Furnace farm midway between this town and Preston. Suffered with stomach trouble and consumption of the lungs for several years.
Burial in the Owingsville Cemetery on Wednesday. Member of the Christian Church and the Masons. He was born May 7, 1830, a son of Aaron Williams, deceased. Married to Minerva Stamper who died a little over a year ago. Left the following children: Mrs. George W. Roberson; John Wesley of Mechanicsburg, Ill.; William R. of Hazelton, Kans; Smith of Mechaniscburg, Ill.; Mrs. William Rogers of near Craigs; Joseph, keeper of the County Poorhouse; Misses Elva and Lou Williams residing at home. He was magistrate of Owingsville district from 1874 till his death.”
