The 1900 census also gives his birthdate as May 1848. Howver, since he was listed in the 1850 census as age 1 and in the 1860 census as age 11, both taken in June, he was probably really born in 1849.

In 1880 he was listed as John Enser, age 31, b. Ky Ky Ky, single, farm laborer with the family of George Spencer age 58 and wife Ruthy A. age 55.

Her death certificate records Ellen Enzer, age 54 years 9 months 5 days, born 16 June 1867 in Bath, died 21 Mar 1922 in Bethel precinct, Bath Co., Ky, widowed, father Whitsom Snedager, mother’s maiden name Mary Robinson, both born in Bath Co., cause of death tuberculosis, informant Corbett Enzer, Bethel, burial in Snedager G.

The two sons both listed as Thomas is strange. In 1920 the younger one is listed as Paul.
