His death certificate records Wm T (or F) Vanlandingham, age 49, born 24 July 1867, married, farmer, father Bennett Vanlandingham, mother’s maiden name Millie Anderson, cause of death typhoid fever, informant Sam Vanlandingham, Owingsville, Ky, burial in Owingsville Cemetery.

The 1870 census listed him as age 1 month, born in May of the year. The enumerator visited their house in August, but ages were supposed to be reported as of June 1 (and children born after that date were not supposed to be listed at all.) Most likely he was born in July 1870, and his parents misunderstood the instructions and reported his actual age at the time of the census visit.
