The Kentucky death index lists Mollie E. Sims, age 97, died 4 July 1968 in Fayette Co., residence Clark Co.
Her gravestone says “Mother: Mollie I. Sims”, with the above two dates in full.
Note that the reported birthdate conflicts with the 1900 census, when she was recorded as born May 1872.
Her obituary reported:
“Mrs. Mollie Engle Sims, 97, Hill Street, widow of Dave Sims, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Harrison Nursing Home, Lexington, after a long illness.
She resided at L and E Junction for many years prior to moving to Hill Street. She was a native of Rowan County and a member of the Baptist church there. She was a daughter of the late Bill and Betsy (H) Patton Engle.
Survivors include a son John M. Sims, Lexington, a granddaughter, one grandson, six great grandchildren, several nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Scobee Funeral Home by Rev J.G. Floyd. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Clark County.
Pall beares will be Chester ?. Jimmy (H) Patton, Carl and Rufus Engle, William Shafer and William Burden.”
