Be careful not to confuse him with William P. Nickell born 19 Aug 1887 in Wolfe Co., Ky, son of Amos Davis Nickell and Sarah T. Hensley, who married Lillie Mae Cain on 13 Nov 1906 in Menifee Co., Ky, lived in Middletown, Butler Co., Ohio during the 1930’s and 1940’s, and died 27 Mar 1979 in Shelbyville, Shelby Co., Ky.

Her name is also sometimes recorded as Lulia, Lela or Lula.

The SSDI lists Lula Nickell, born 20 Jan 1889, died 15 Feb 1971, last residence West Liberty, Morgan Co., Ky.

She does not appear in the Kentucky death index, so she may have died in Ohio.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 5, p. 347, records the marriage on 19 Nov 1905 of Willie T. Nickell, age 20, teacher, residence Covereen, Ky, born in and mother born in Menifee Co., father born in Rowan Co., to Lula Jones, age 17, residence Cogswell, born in and father born in Bath Co., mother born in Rowan Co., to be at bride’s residence, at Damey Jones’ by J. H. Johnson, witnesses Hannah Nickell and Cordelia Jones.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Farmers precinct, enumerated 27 April, lists on p. 8B as family #142/149:
Nickell, Willie, 24, medical student at college; Lela, wife, 21, married 4 years, mother of 1 child, 1 living; Forest, son, 3. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The preceding household is that of Lela/Lula’s mother Damie with her second husband James F. Roberts.

1920 census of Mahoning Co., Ohio, Youngstown ward 3, enumerated 2 Jan, lists on p. 1A as family #7/8, at 660 Wilson Ave:
