His obituary in the Morehead News reported “Galen Loyan Blair, 79, of Christy Creek Road, passed away Saturday evening, March 24, 2012 in Georgetown, at the Signature Healthcare facility after an extended illness.

Born August 4, 1932 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Silas and Cora Fletcher Blair.

Galen was a United States Air Force veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a truck driver having retired from United Trucking Company, a member of the Teamsters Union, he enjoyed people, especially visiting with family and friends and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Wanda Blair, who passed away April 30, 2000, one brother, Jerry Blair, four sisters, Nina Martin, Ester Blair, Julie Skaggs and Delilah Blair.

Survivors include one son, Allen J. "Todd" Blair of Winchester; two daughters, Cora Blair Sosby and her husband, James and Pamela Kay Muncie and her husband, John all of Winchester; four brothers, Dickie (Carolyn) Blair of Morehead, Dwayne (Ann) Blair of Akin, South Carolina, Larry Turner of Thorsby, Alabama and Willie(Margaret) Mocabee of Oklahoma; three sisters, Debbie Nightwine of Iberia, Ohio, Delonna (Herman) Hutto and Carla (Roland) Ellison all of Thorsby, Alabama; three grandchildren, Lesley Alexander, Christian Muncie and Ethan Muncie; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Alexander and Rylan Alexander and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Reverend Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Fraley Cemetery with full military honors by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Christian Muncie, Jim Sosby, John Muncie, Dickie Blair, Hubert Clark and Emery Pernell and honorary pallbearers will be Terry Pernell, Tom Sloan, Oscar Sloan, Don Sloan, Robert Sloan, Paul Sloan and Larry Fraley.”
