Census Notes for Samuel & Angeline (Family)
1830 census of Montgomery Co., Ky, lists:
Samuel Shultz, 1 male 20-29, 1 female 20-29; 1 male 100+, 1 female 70-79.

Probably this is Samuel with a first wife and his grandparents.

1840 census of Clark Co., Ky, lists:
Sam’l Sults, 1 male 30-39, 1 female 15-19; 1 male under 5, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 80-89.

This is probably Samuel and Angeline, with John and a daughter from his first marriage, and a baby girl who died before 1850, and his grandmother. (The same neighbors appear for this Samuel “Sults” that are next to Samuel Shultz in 1850, such as Zadoch Kidd.)

1850 census of Clark Co., Ky, district 1, enumerated 17 Aug, lists on p. 48 as family #342:
Samuel Shultz, 45, farmer; Angeline, 35; John, 15; Thomas, 9; Mary M., 7. All born in Kentucky.

The next household is heaed by James Raborn, age 34, with wife Mary age 26.

1860 census of Clark Co., Ky, district 1, Winchester P.O., enumerated 5 July, lists on p. 29 as family #251:
Sam’l Rayborn, 37, manufacturer of wood; Nancy, 21; Sam’l Schults, 55, day laborer; Angeline, 40; James Cunningham, 25, day laborer; Josep Vincent, 20, day laborer. All born in Ky.

Samuel is probably Angeline’s brother, and Nancy his wife.

1870 census of Powell Co., Ky, Stanton P.O., enumerated 13 July, lists on p. 22 as family #5:
Shults, 68, keeping boarding house; Angeline, 48; Lucy, 21; Nancy, 8; Iva, 3. All born in Kentucky.

Iva is presumably Lucy’s daughter, since she is living with Lucy and James Pettit in 1880, recorded as Iva Pettit, daughter. I do not know the parents of Nancy age 8.

1880 census of Powell Co., Ky, Stanton, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 15 as family #126/132:
Shultz, Samuel, 75, occupation blank; Angeline, 59, wife; Nancy, 17, dau; Burns, William, 14, servant; Lindsey, Alexander, 71, boarder, saddler, b. Va Penn Penn. All others are listed as born Ky Ky Ky.

By “Ky” for the birthplace of Samuel’s parents is apparently meant Kentucky Co., Virginia, since the state of Kentucky was not founded until 1792.
