His obituary reported:
“Marvin Powers Perry Sr., 79, Terry Coal Road, Crofton, died at 2:20 this morning, July 18, 2002, at his home of natural causes.
The body will be cremated. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Crofton, with the Rev. Melvin Felts officiating. There will be no visitation. Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Crofton, is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Charleston, W. Va., he was born March 11, 1923, the son of the late Harlen Powers and Iva Frances Sexton Perry. He was retired after working 40 years as an ironworker in Detroit. He was a Korean War Navy veteran and was a member of the ironworkers union. His wife, Noella Marie Perry, died last January.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin Powers Perry Jr., Sharon Grove, Michael Earl Perry, Morehead, Marion Lee Perry, Tullahoma, Mitchell Wayne Perry, Crofton; two daughters, Marline Iva Goodpaster, Lynchburg, Tenn., Alice Marie Jarrell, Dawson Springs; two brothers, Ralph and Wilbert Perry, Mansfield, Ohio; a sister, Bernice Clevenger, Arthur, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Aurore Angela Williamson, Corpus Christi, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.”
