His gravestone says that he was born 30 Dec 1865, but he was recorded as as age 18 in the 1880 census, as age 37 born Dec 1862 in the 1900 census, and as age 47 in the 1910 census. (I cannot find his parents Thomas and Edy Cline in the 1870 census.)

Her gravestone gives her date of birth as 12 May 1864, but she was recorded as age 4 in the 1870 census and age 14 in the 1880 census, so she was probably really born in 1866.

McDowell Co., W.Va. Marriage Record, Book 1, 1865-1896, p. 110, records the marriage on 7 Feb 1881 of Russel Cline, age 18, born in Logan Co, WV, son of Thomas and Eda Cline to Eliza Lester, age 14, born in Wyoming Co, WV, daughter of Mastin and Dicy Lester. The marriage is clearly entered in 1881 yet this family was listed in the 1880 census indicating they were married in Feb 1880.

Cline, Russell, 37, b. Dec 1862, farmer; Eliza, wife, 32, b. May 1868, married 20 years, mother of 8 children, 1 living; General G., son, 20, b. Mar 1880; Andy C., son, 16, b. Dec 1883; Rosie V., dau, 13, b. Oct 1886; Loney B., sopn, 11, b. Dec 1888; Mandy, dau, 8, b. July 1891; Nancy J., dau, 3, b. Feb 1897. All born WVa WVa WVa.

The “number of living children” count is apparently some sort of error.
