His obituary reported:
“Funeral services for Leon Abdill will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1952 in the Chapel of the Byron Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Loren E. Ryel, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating.
Mr. Abdill, pioneer resident of Woodward, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1952, at the home of his step son in Chula Vista, Calif. following a heart attack. He was born September 16, 1882 at Atchison, Kans. In November 1907 he came to Woodward to make his home until 1944 when he moved to California. He was a building contractor.
He married Mabel Gray of Woodward on June 21, 1922. Mr. Abdill was a member of the Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas.
A daughter, Marsinah Suzella Abdill preceded him in death on January 14, 1943.
Survivors include his wife Mabel of Chula Vista, Calif., one son Wylmar deLeon Abdill, Loveland, Colo., one step son, Spencer Gray Clarke, Chula Vista, Calif., and five grandchildren, also one brother, George A. Abdill, San Diego, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, San Diego, Calif.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery with arrangements by the Byron Mason Funeral Home.”

Her obituary reported:
“Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Gray Abdill Smith, 89, who died Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abel Aragon with whom she resided, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from Steed Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Sawyer of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories under the direction of Steel-Todd Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 13, 1888 in Cherry Box, Mo. and had resided in New Mexico for many years. She was educated in Oklahoma and spent several years working in a law office. She later moved to Clovis to be near her son, the late Wylmer Abdul. She was one of the organizers of the Senior Citizens Center of Clovis and served as its secretary for many years. She wrote a weekly column for the News-Journal and was the author of life stories about many of the senior citizens.
Survivors include seven grandchildren, Charles Abdill and Bill Abdill both of Clovis among them; and cousins from Hereford, Texas, Nellie and Glen Blue.
Pallbearers will be Richard Aragon, Richard Stanley, Artie McDowell, Tom Wier, J. H. Brown, B. F. Waldrop, W. R. Park. All senior citizens will be honorary bearers.”
