Notes for James W. Ingram
I do not have direct evidence for the parentage of this James Ingram. He is likely to be closely related to the brothers Hiram Ingram who married Sarah Elizabeth Lawson and Isaac Ingram who married Polly Lawson, because they were the only two other Ingram families in Morgan County or the eastern part of Bath County in the 1830 through 1850 censuses. (All the descendants of Thomas Ingram were in the western part of Bath County that stayed Bath.) But he is too old to be one of their sons, and too young to be their brother. That leaves the possibility of his being a nephew.
Notes for James W. & Minerva (Family)
Bath Co., Ky marriage bonds record the marriage of James Ingram and Manervy Cartmill on 19 Dec 1831, bondsman Thomas Cartmill.
Census
1850 census of Bath Co., Ky, district 1, enumerated 23 July, lists on p. 8 as family #74:
James Ingram, 39, farmer; Minerva, 34; Franklin, 16; Jane, 15; Sarah, 12; John, 11; Mary A., 9; James K. P., 4; Malinda, 3; Eliza A., 2. All born in Kentucky.
1860 census of Fleming Co., Ky, Elizaville, enumerated 18 July, lists on p. 72 as family #532/478:
Jas Ingram, 53; Minerva, 46; Jane, 23; Frankey, 22 (f); Sarena, 21; John, 20; J. K. P., 18 (m); Ann E., 13; Newton, 5. All born in Kentucky.
It is curious that there are two females between Jane and John in this recording (Frankey and Sarena), when there was only one in 1850. It may be that one is not a daughter, but some other relative. There is a large discrepancy for the age of James K. P., but the digits are very clear in both censuses.
1870 census of Robertson Co., Ky, Mt. Olivet precinct, enumerated 25 Aug, lists on p. 11 as family #73:
Ingraham, James, 70, farmer; Minerva, 54; Jennie, 38; Newton, 15. All born in Kentucky.
1880 census of Robertson Co., Ky, Mt. Olivet precinct, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 8 as family #68/72:
Ingram, James, 79, farmer, b. Ky Va Ky, Ham, Jefferson, 20, grandson, b. Ky Ky Ky.
Jefferson is the son of Mary Ann Ingram and Thornton Ham. The next household is headed by James W. Ingram, age 36, apparently the son formerly known as James K. P. Ingram.
