His death certificate records Fielding B. Ham, age 85 years 2 months 14 days, born 11 March 1827 in Kentucky, died 25 May 1912 in Pine Grove precinct, Rowan Co., Ky, married, farmer, father Joseph Ham, born in Virginia, mother’s maiden name Nancy McClurg, birthplace unknown, cause of death pariletic stroke, informant blank, burial in Masters Cemetery.
His gravestone says F. B. Ham, Born Mar 11, 1830 Died May 25, 1912.
The earlier date is more consistent with census records, although I suspect the correct year may be 1828.

Notes for Mariah “Alice” O. B. G. Clark
Her death certificate records Alice M. Hamm, age 79 years 17 days, born 17 Nov 1858 in Ky, died 4 Dec 1937 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, married, wife of Fielding B. Hamm, father James Clark, mother’s maiden name Polly Willis, both born in Ky, cause of death uremia, contributory cause carcinoma of bladder, informant Fielding B. Hamm, 1640 5th St., burial in Memorial Cemetery.
Since Fielding died in 1912, the marital status and informant’s name must be wrong. (If it weren’t for the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses, I would figure that there were two Fielding B. Ham(m)’s, one of whom was younger.) The real informant was probably one of her two stepsons who were living in Portsmouth, either Grant or George.
Since Fielding died in 1912, the marital status and informant’s name must be wrong. (If it weren’t for the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses, I would figure that there were two Fielding B. Ham(m)’s, one of whom was younger.) The real informant was probably one of her two stepsons who were living in Portsmouth, either Grant or George.

The preceding household is headed by Grant Ham age 37 with wife Myrtle.
1920 census of Scioto Co., Ohio, Wayne township, Portsmouth ward 2, enumerated 10 Jan, lists on p. 18B as family #349/384, at 101 Glover St:
Hamm, Grant, 49, shoe worker at factory; Myrtle, wife, 41, Beatrice, dau, 18; Norman, son, 3/12, b. Ohio Ky Ky; Alice, mother, 61, widowed. All born Ky Ky Ky except Norman.
Alice should be recorded as a stepmother rather than mother.
