Toliver is now in Wolfe County, just outside Hazel Green. But until Wolfe was formed in 1860 it was in Morgan Co.

Census records are more consistent with a birthdate in 1844. He was recorded as 6 in 1850, 17 in 1860, 26 in 1870, 35 in 1880, 56 born Mar 1844 in 1900, and 66 in 1910. Even the reported age at death implies 1844 and is inconsistent with 1845.

Morgan Co., Ky birth records list Elizabeth Hogg, born 30 Mar 1852, father Silas Hogg, mother’s maiden name Rachel Drake. The mother’s name is apparently in error, though, since it is in conflict with census, marriage and death records. The line below is for a Sarah Malinda Drake born 7 Nov 1852 to James Drake and Rachel Drake. It appears that the clerk, when copying the reports from midwives and doctors onto the report sheet, accidentally copied Rachel’s name twice, the first time onto the wrong line.
