The 1890 Civil War Veterans census lists in Winchester, Clark Co., Ky, Buford Balenger, service as a private in Co. A, Ky 16 Rgt, enlisted 2 Jan 1862, discharged Sep 1865.
His gravestone says only “B. Ballinger, Co. A. Ky 16”, with no birth or death dates.

I am documenting this family more thoroughly than I generally would for the maternal grandparents of the spouse of a second cousin three times removed, because I have an early Bollinger line in Pennsylvania on my mother’s side, and they might turn out to be related.
