His obituary reported “Gene K. Spratt, age 73, of Montgomery Square Apartments in Mt. Sterling, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was born August 12, 1930, to the late W. H. Spratt and the late Bethel Shrout Spratt. He was a retired construction worker and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors are one daughter, Sandy Meadows (husband, Warren), of Owingsville; one son, Gerald Spratt and one granddaughter, both of Owingsville; two brothers, Roy Spratt, of Mt. Sterling; and Vinton Ray Spratt, of Minot, North Dakota; two sisters, Deloris Berryman and Audrey Mae Warner, both of Mt. Sterling; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Herman Paul and Glenn R. Spratt.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2004, at the Herald and Stewart Chapel, in Mt. Sterling. Burial was in Machpelah Cemetery.”
