Notes for William Columbus & Missouri Ann (Family)
I cannot find either Columbus or Missouri in the Kentucky or Ohio death records. They may have moved to Indiana, which does not have an online index to death records.
Census
1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 4 June, lists on p. 2B as family #34:
Goodpaster, Colubus, 40, b. Feb 1860, Ind Ky Ky, farmer; Mosuria, 30, b. May 1870, Ky Ky Ky, married 13 years, mother of 4 children, 2 living; William T., son, 13, b. Mar 1887, Ky Ky Ky; Quiller Y, son, 4, b. Feb 1896, Ky Ky Ky; Willson, John, boarder, 25, b. Mar 1875, Ky Ky Ky.
1910 census of Montgomery Co., Ky, Spencer precinct, enumerated 7 May, lists on p. 7A as family #186:
Goodpaster, Columbus, 50, b. Ky Penn Tenn; Missouri, wife, 46, b. Ky Ky Ky, married 25 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; William, son (imdot), 12, b. Ky Ky Ky; Affia -> Aqllia, son, 20, b. Ky Ky Ky.
The reported ages are really strange. William should be about 23, and Quiller about 14. The name on the last line looks like it started out as Affia, with F in the sex column, and then a q was squeezed in after the A and an attempt made to erase the tails of the f’s, and the F overwritten with M. (Ancestry.com has indexed it as Allie - the q is there, but is very squished.) It never said daughter, though. I suspect this was one of the situations where the census taker first took visit notes and then transcribed them into the ledger, and misread his own handwriting on both the ages and initially on Aquilla’s name.
