His death certificate records Noah Samuel Fraley, age 32 years , born 17 Dec 1894 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 6 Nov 1927 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, residence 1224 Front St., married, husband of Bertha Fraley, occupation fireman at power house, employer N. & W. Ry., father Uriah Fraley, mother’s maiden name Lenna Hannah, both born in Ky, cause of death pulmonary tuberculosis, informant Mrs. Samuel Fraley, 1224 Front St., Portsmouth, Oh, burial in Greenlawn.

She died sometime after Nov 1927, since she was the informant on Sam’s death certificate, and probably sometime before (or shortly after 1930), since their son Carl was living with Sam’s brother Ebb in the 1930 census. But I cannot find her in the Ohio (nor Kentucky) death records. Since both Sam and Carl died of tuberculosis, she may have been sent to a sanitorium somewhere.

1920 census of Carter Co., Ky, Pleasant Valley precinct, enumerated 5 Feb, lists on p. 18A as family #309/319:
James, Ned, 43, farmer; Hattie, wife, 35; Herbert, son, 20; Dock, son, 17; Ollie, dau, 16; Letha, dau, 12; Maxine, dau, 10; Hazel, dau, 9; Nanna, dau, 7; Gladys, dau, 4 0/12; Willie, son, 1 3/12; Fraley, Samuel, 25, son-in-law, farmer; Bertha, dau, 18. All born Ky Ky Ky.

In 1930 Sam and Bertha’s son Carl is living in Scioto Co., listed as nephew, with Sam’s brother Ebb.
