His obituary in the Portsmouth Daily Times of Friday, April 12, 1996 reported:
“Columbus Fraley, 91, of Wheelersburg, died Thursday April 11, 1996, at Greenbriar Convalescent Center in Wheelersburg. Born Nov 17, 1904, Elliott County, KY, a son of the late Uriah Fraley and Linnie Hannah Fraley, he was a retired employee of the former Empire Detroit Steel and attended the Christian Baptist Church of Wheelersburg. Preceded in death Aug 20, 1980, by his wife, Ella Louise Barber Fraley, whom he married Sep 15, 1928, he is survived by two daughters, Anna Lou Bettis and Jeanette Smith, both of Wheelersburg; a brother, Thurman Fraley of Ithaca, MI; a sister, Susan Lands of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by nine brothers, Ebb, Sam, Dave, Baller, Lindsay, John, Ballard, George and Elza Fraley; and a sister, Martha Swanson. Services will be held at 11am Monday at Harrison Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with the Rev. Wade Gallaher officiating, and interment in Memorial Burial Park.”

“WHEELERSBURG: Mrs. Ella Louise Barber Fraley, 75, of Gleim Rd., died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital. An Ashland, KY, native, she attended Germany Hollow Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Lou Bettis of Gleim Rd., and Mrs. Jeanette Smith of Fairview Ave.; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Collignon of Buena Vista, Mrs. Helen Hacker of Franklin Furnace, Mrs. Susan Boyd of Flatwoods, KY and Mrs. Margaret Truitt of Chico, CA and three grandchildren. Services are planned at 10:30 am Saturday at Bob Stratton Funeral Home, with Revs. Henry Hawkins and Ed Percell officiating, and interment in Memorial Burial Park.”
